Kamut Oatmeal

May 7, 2011

Okay, obviously it is not oatmeal. Oatmeal means there are oats. But if I said Kamutmeal, you would not check it out, would you?

Anyway, a purchase from the Vegan Grocery store a while back. Decided to give it a try. Pretty straight forward. Boil 2 cups of water, when boiling, add 1 cup of the Kamut Flakes, boil for 3 minutes.

Now, I do have to say that I found that the water does not absorb as well as it does with oatmeal. Meaning after cooking for 3 minutes, or 5 minutes (I have done both), you still have to drain the excess liquid.

There it is. It smells exactly like oatmeal. And if you have ever had plain, real oatmeal, it is exactly how this tastes.

And I would not have it any other way!

To my kamut, I added some currants, dried apricots, sliced almonds, a bit of almond milk, and some agave syrup to sweeten it up. Delicious!
