First Vegan Dinner Party

Yesterday, I had my first Vegan dinner party. What to make, what to make? Especially since the guests are not Vegan – heck, they are not even Vegetarian! Also, what do I make keeping my food criteria in mind. On top of it all, a bunch of foods that I have not made before. So what do I make?

Baby back ribs of course! Yep, I made some ribs. Granted, I didn’t eat said ribs, but I wanted to make sure if the guests didn’t like my food, there would be something amazing for them to eat (and survey said they were fantasic).

Also on the menu were:

  • Kale (already posted recipe)
  • Moroccan Stew (Vegan, recipe forthcoming)
  • Caramelized Onions with swiss chard and slivered almonds (Vegan, recipe forthcoming)
  • Mom’s Cold Beans (already posted recipe)
  • Steamed Broccoli & Cauliflower (self explanatory)
  • French Bread (Vegan, but not what I am suppose to eat)
  • Sliced Veggies with Vegan Sour Cream (recipe forthcoming)

Photos and recipes forthcoming. The stew and onions went over very well. Actually, everything did. Kale is awesome, so are the beans. The stew was an interesting experiment. It came out very soup-like. I am used to my stew being the consistency of stew. Not soup. Additionally, it was served on Quinoa. Not sure how that was going to go over. Turns out, surprisingly well. I probably didn`t need to make the ribs, although they smelt awesome, and I did enjoy the smell (they were done in the slow cooker).

As for alcohol, I did my research. I picked up a couple bottles of Inniskillin Red, and a bottle of Cave Springs Red (both Vegan). A couple of guests brought Jackson Triggs Red (also Vegan), which worked out well. We went through a lot of it!

So overall, I am pleased in how it worked out, and I have lots of yummy leftovers today!
